I thoroughly enjoyed this stay at the fabulous new InterContinental Resort Berchtesgaden. The hotel has a magnificent mountain location with wonderful views and gives a good impression of being in the middle of nowhere. Despite this, I managed without a car! It's only a short stroll to the Dokumentation Obersalzberg exhibition and the bus departure point for the Eagle's Nest, while taxis, buses and a little Gondelbahn cable car system are available for accessing Berchtesgaden town. I was upgraded to a comfortable and roomy duplex suite featuring two bathrooms, a balcony, a sun terrace, a fireplace and no fewer than three plasma TVs! I thought the food was quite superb and the extensive in-house spa facility is also a major attraction.
