Historic San Antonio

I had a bit of a lie-in this morning, finally stirring at around 0815. I was still in plenty of time to use my breakfast coupon, of course and, having eaten my fill, was finally ready to head out just a little after 10. The city was noticeably busier than the previous day, this being the first day of the long Labor Day weekend. I started by exploring some of the historic buildings to be found off the Riverwalk, and had a look at City Hall, the old Spanish Governor's Palace and San Fernando Cathedral. Next, I went back down to the Riverwalk to try to escape the worst of the growing heat and had a pleasant morning stroll. The tourist boats were very much busier than they'd been on Friday. I stumbled across a riverside wedding!

Finally, I made my way through the Riverside Mall and back along to the Crowne Plaza. I had managed to negotiate a 2pm checkout and didn't want to push it. The job of packing was easier than anticipated, however, and I was checked out and on my way to the airport with half an hour to spare. I had a stroke of luck : my booked flight had been cancelled and I was rebooked onto the 1557 departure, which meant much less of a wait. Passage through Security was easy and I managed to grab a toasted sandwich for lunch before visiting the Continental Airlines Presidents Club, the second time in a few days that my new Priority Pass had proved useful.

On arrival at DFW, I collected my suitcase and transferred to the InterContinental at Addison, noting the increasingly ominous looking skies. I spent the evening just relaxing, aware that the following day would bring both a very early start and an adverse time change.
