A frequent flyer's collection of trip diaries

This is: Singapore & Malaysia 2014

Washout!

All good things must come to an end! I woke up around 6:30, but before I got up at 7am, it had started raining and would carry on doing so for the rest of the day.

Trapped under a giant canopy!

I once again had breakfast at Zest, following which I booked my airport transfer for Saturday morning. I spent most of the morning reading, at first in my room and then in the lobby coffee shop. A minor miracle seemed to have occurred around 11am, when it stopped raining. Once there had been ten rain-free minutes, I decided to venture outside and installed myself on a sun lounger that was entirely covered by a large sun-shade. It all seemed to be going well until a further ten minutes had passed and the rain suddenly resumed with a ferocious intensity. I was effectively trapped under the canopy for a further 15 minutes until the deluge eased off sufficiently to permit a dash for the building. Oh well - at least I tried!

The situation at 3pm (left) and 5pm (right)

After a plain but tasty lunch of fish and chips at Zest - the heavy rain reminded me of home, so why not the food as well? - I went back up to my room and spent the afternoon bringing my diary notes fully up-to-date and continuing with my reading. Conditions suddenly deteriorated further at five o'clock, with the rain lashing against my windows and the palm trees looking as though they were about to take off.

I ordered a room service dinner again and watched two back-to-back movies, Red Planet and Firewall, both on the Cinemax channel.
