Round The World and other travels

June 2009 : London

Kew Gardens

Amazingly, it wasn't until the second half of June that I made my first visit of 2009 to London. Most of my first day in town (Friday) was taken up with a visit to Kew Gardens. Although this was not the reason for making the trip - see below and right - it is the only part of the weekend for which I have a proper photographic record.

Taste of London

On Saturday I joined a good number of mFT friends at the Taste of London food festival in Regent's Park. The event was sponsored by British Airways, which provided excellent hospitality for Executive Club members. The weather proved to be much better than forecast and it turned out to be a most enjoyable occasion. Sadly, I didn't take any photos at all as I had my hands full negotiating my way through the crowds while balancing flimsy platefuls of food!

Theatre

On Friday evening, I went to see The King and I at the Royal Albert Hall - my first time inside this world-famous venue. This was one of a strictly limited number of 'in the round' performances of the well-loved musical,  featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
